Kelly McGroty is the resident artist of Dragon Fire Studio, previously Kai-nyra Metal art. He is a self taught artist; always being good with his hands and a tendency to be drawn to fire have turned out to be a great combination. Kelly started out building little people out of horse shoe nails, "nail guys". Working with copper and bronze as accessories with the nails inspired Kelly to fiddle fart around and try making bigger sculptures. |
His wife always his number one supporter in his art, still rolls her eyes whenever he gets a new idea saying "Here we go again." Then she usally shake her head and laughs at him. Kellys four children spend almost as much time in his shop as he does giving him ideas and helping out. Pretty impressive considering none of them are teenagers yet. Kelly now makes a wide variety of things and welds everything from large sculpures, little flowers, even his neighbors trailer down the street. Kelly has an easy going, laid back attitude, believeing life is to short to be uptight, or get to worked up over things.
